Sniffy Privacy
Plain-English summary: Guest progress stays in the browser. When an adult account holder signs in, Sniffy stores app progress against that WordPress account so it can sync across devices.
Adult-managed accounts
WordPress accounts are for people aged 18 or older. A parent, guardian or other responsible adult manages the account. Child and Family profiles inside Sniffy are learning profiles, not separate website accounts, and do not need a child’s email address.
What Sniffy stores
- Saved and discovered words, learning progress, XP, streaks and game results.
- Profile names and emoji chosen inside the app.
- Custom words you add.
- Feedback you deliberately submit.
- A timestamp confirming that the account holder accepted the adult-management requirement.
Guest play
Guest data is stored in local browser storage on that device. Clearing browser data can remove it.
Signed-in accounts
Signed-in progress is stored as private WordPress user metadata and returned only to the authenticated account. Revision checks prevent an older device from silently overwriting newer progress. Learning data is retained while the account exists unless the adult account holder deletes it sooner.
Children and families
Sniffy does not require children to create accounts or provide email addresses. Adults should supervise use, choose appropriate profile names and avoid adding sensitive information to custom words or feedback.
Feedback and retention
Feedback is stored privately in WordPress and may be emailed to the site administrator. Feedback records are automatically removed after 365 days unless deleted sooner. An email address is optional unless you want a reply.
Anti-spam and analytics
If Cloudflare Turnstile is enabled, it processes technical request information to help stop automated registration and feedback abuse. External analytics are disabled by default. If enabled by the operator, Sniffy suppresses external analytics in Child mode and does not use behavioural advertising.
Your choices
A signed-in adult can delete Sniffy learning data without deleting the WordPress account, request full account deletion, export app data, or use the WordPress personal-data export and erasure tools.
